ABOUT VIP

Voices In Poetry is a grant-funded workshop, the goal of which is to introduce students in Adams County, IL to the creative and emotional expression of poetry. 2015's project was funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, sponsored by the Quincy Society of Fine Arts, and taught by members of the Quincy Writers Guild.

V. I. P.'s 2015 project consisted of a 3-session workshop brought to middle-schoolers, wherein they were introduced to poetry, taught the basics of poetry, and given the chance to write and present their own poetical works.

At the end of the workshop, each participating student received a certificate of completion, and will receive a copy of The Book, a published compilation of the students' poetry written during the workshop. Copies of The Book will also be available for purchase through Amazon.com.

The goal of V. I. P. is to introduce students to the long-standing art of expressing emotions, equip them with the basic tools necessary to begin writing, and to instill in them an appreciation for the art that is poetry.
